Support for Military and First Responders
Helping our heros
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among military personnel and first responders highlights the significant impact of their occupations on mental health. Studies have shown that approximately 20% of military veterans experience PTSD at some point, with rates varying depending on deployment history and combat exposure.
Among first responders, such as police officers, firefighters, and paramedics, the prevalence of PTSD is also alarmingly high. Research suggests that up to 30% of first responders may develop PTSD, which can result from exposure to traumatic incidents and chronic stress.
An urgent need
The PTSD statistics in these occupations underscore the urgent need for comprehensive support and intervention programs to address the mental health challenges faced by military personnel and first responders. Untreated PTSD can have severe and long-lasting effects on their mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It can strain personal relationships and affect family dynamics and social connections. Symptoms of PTSD can hinder their ability to perform effectively in their roles, compromising their safety and the safety of others. By addressing unresolved trauma and providing support, Shields of Faith aims to promote healing, enhance resilience, and improve the overall quality of life for our dedicated heroes.
