Support for victims and communities affect by hate crimes.
Helping communities thrive
Victims of trauma
Shields of Faith is devoted to helping communities and individuals who have fallen victim to the rise of hate crimes. Many victims lack access to necessary resources and develop PTSD due to unresolved trauma, leading to life-long symptoms of anxiety, depression, anger, and self-destructive behavior, including suicide. In 2020, the FBI reported 8,873 hate crime incidents, compared to 7,314 reported hate crime incidents in 2016. These hate crimes motivated by race, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or other characteristics are tearing apart communities, afflicting individuals by creating fear, hindering wellness, and spreading violence. The lasting impact of the current social climate and the trauma it has cultivated has many feeling unsafe and unsupported. Shields of Faith understands the people's need for change, support, and mental wellness, and Shields of Faith believes that the people deserve immediate action so that healing can begin.
