Acknowledging the need for support

A substantial proportion of the population will encounter at least one traumatic event during their lifetime that could lead to PTSD. Studies suggest that around 60% of men and 51% of women in the United States have experienced a traumatic event. These events can range from physical and sexual assault, accidents, natural disasters, combat, witnessing death, or injury exposure. It is crucial to acknowledge the prevalence of traumatic experiences to ensure adequate support and resources are available for those affected.

of the American population will have suffered from traumatic events that lead to PTSD at some point in their lives. That’s about 12 million American adults suffering from PTSD during any given year.

Our 2023 promise

Shields of Faith stands against all hate and injustice, from discrimination to bias-motivated violence. We know that unchecked hate based on a person’s race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religion has devastating impacts on individuals and communities. This is why, at this critical moment, Shields of Faith is focusing our efforts on helping the victims of anti-Asian hate and xenophobia.

At Shields of Faith, our mission is to combat trauma, but to accomplish this goal for victims of human trafficking, we’re attacking the issue at the source by eradicating human traffickers and dismantling the networks that perpetuate this heinous crime. Shields of Faith is working relentlessly to rescue victims including the underaged, prevent exploitation, and promote a world where every person’s dignity and freedom are protected.

Fighting human trafficking

When it comes to addressing the aftermath of hate crimes, the road to healing and recovery can be incredibly challenging for victims. Shields of Faith aims to provide support, resources, and a safe space for those affected by hate crimes and trauma. Through individual or group therapy sessions, victims will find solace, gain resilience, and rebuild their lives after experiencing the traumatic event.

Support for Military and First Responders

Military and First responders such as law enforcement officers, firefighters, and paramedics have high exposure rates to trauma and stress throughout their careers. Shields of Faith's trauma intervention will provide critical assistance to military personnel and first responders through targeted therapy, counseling, and a range of community resources tailored to their distinct requirements, enhancing mental well-being and overall resilience. By promoting understanding and offering evidence-based interventions, Shields of Faith plays a pivotal role in supporting the unique needs of individuals who regularly face highly stressful and emotionally challenging situations.

Nonjudgmental support

Shields of Faith has a network of certified Chaplains trained in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). CISD is a form of psychological support and assistance offered to anyone immediately after a traumatic event. Through this technique survivors are given the opportunity to work through and process their emotions, reducing core stress responses and the psychological consequences such as PTSD and anxiety.

Stand with us

Support happens within the context of a larger community, and Shields of Faith is looking for volunteers to join our team and help us achieve our mission. We're looking for individuals who want to make meaningful changes to the community, ensuring everyone has the necessary support to achieve the safety and wellness they deserve, and we need your help.
